Some Suggestions Please... :)

    I was trying to teach this without a mat, because I didn't want to deal with the fading the mat away, but now I'm realizing that I'm going to have to use it.

    It can be taught without a mat. I didn't use a mat and Holly's really good and pretty precise about her positions.
    You could start out rewarding the dog being in roughly the right position and then slowly raise the criteria so that they have to be straighter and straighter to get the treat.

    That is true... But mine never figured it out... Shaping can frustrate her and then she gives up... So giving Deja a target and some help does the trick.
