My dog does get in this way. I think the "trick" with this is to move with the dog. You put the dog on a leash, sit it in front of you, then quickly walk backwards calling it to you, guiding it around you with the leash, then quickly walk back to where you were and sit it again.
I'm no expert but this is how I was taught and it worked well for me and the people and dogs that attend my same "school" :dogtongue2:
