Try putting a baby gate on the OUTSIDE of your front door (if the door swings in, inside if the door swings out), since your babies look small-ish, you could get one that you can step over easily, but is a real barrier to them. When you open the door, they will very soon learn that rushing the door does no good, they can't get out anyway, even with the door hanging wide open! Then they get a treat for being calm and watching you while the door is open.
