Well, I'm fostering another dog, and may decide to keep him, but not sure. Will see how things go. I got him from a farm that didn't need him, they were needing to find a home for him ASAP. So I took him in. He's a male Border Collie, 7mo. His name, Sonny de-Light. He's great with the girls, but guards his food with his life, from the dogs, but not me. He lets me hand feed him and put my hand in his bowl with no issues, and licks me and jumps on me, lol. He's also not housetrained either, went pee inside. So I got some work ahead of me. But he's great with dogs and people. Also found he's great with cats as well. Here's some pics...

nice pup, you will have your work cut out for you house training an older pup, being a farm dog he wouldnt of gone inside much

Just got back from Sonny's vet visit. He's doing really well. And because he's not had any shots before, he got his first puppy shot and his rabies shot. The doctor also said that he only had one testicle drop, so it's highly recommended to get him neutered sooner than later, so we will do that next month when he goes in for the rest of his shots. He's also been dewormed as well. So we are all set now. He was very good at the vet as well, didn't mind the shots at all. And he wanted affection from the vet as well, lol. He's just a sweetheart, lol.

I also mentioned to the vet about the gal getting contaminated food and it killed other family members, but Sonny survived. And the vet looked at me and said he doubt that happened, and that he feels that they probably had parvo run through, and Sonny had survived it and the others didn't. So if that was the case, Sonny would now be immune to it, but he got his shots anyways, just to be sure. So we will go back in a month for the rest, as well as the neuter.

Yes definitely neuter ASAP. With cryptorchids(neither drops)it's usually done very early.

My boy golden also had one drop and it was highly recommended to fix early and prevent cancer. He died of brain cancer/hemangiosarcoma at just 9 yo, which his testosterone may have helped protect against if he'd had it longer. So it's not JUST a testicular cancer protection question or mammary for females. These two cancers are more external and easier to detect than lymphatic cancer and hemangio (the two more vastly more prevalent dog killers) which hormones do protect against in many cases.

Do get a second opinion from a oncologist. I've found almost everything I knew about hormones and cancer prevention is not as thought even 5 years ago. For my boy this would have been 10 years ago. The statistics from specialists and vets are vastly different often...vets almost always say neuter and I think neuter too soon regardless of dropping testicles. go to the doc with numbers.
