Sounds like the friend has some mental issues. The dog was "given away or sold sometime between November 2012 and June 2013", and he doesn't know the persons name and doesn't know their phone number? Not the kind of person I would entrust a beloved pet to!

I don't think he doesn't know. I think he doesn't want to tell. Maybe he just dumped the dog on the street or... in the worst case, he got him euthanized.

With friends like that who needs enemies! How disgusting, breaking the trust of a Soldier and his Best Buddy! Sure hope it isn't the worst and someone somewhere sees the add and returns his dog!
