great places to start with a free download, before you get your puppy and more with positive training. http://www.siriuspup.com/beforebook.html and i like Patricia McConnell’s puppy primer.

consider a puppy kindergarten with supervised play and interaction for socialization and maybe even a puppy class to get you started. be sure to get referrals and interview people that will be helping train ur puppy. if you don't agree with their philosophy or methods don't be afraid to say no or walk away. not every trainer is right for u and ur dog. the adpt has mostly positive trainers but u need to do ur research. see http://www.apdt.com/

I also really recommend Karen Pryor clicker trainers and i just love LOVE the one I go to now. it's a great class and the instructors are very well educated and trained. they are also positive which is a great plus. see http://www.clickertraining.com/ with a listing of trainers at http://karenpryoracademy.com/find-a-trainer there are loads of books and free stuff on the site too.

what cute huge fat paws.

I also like the following and it's all free though they do sell some things on these sites too loads of how to's go to the home page for even more
