Cat Training

I have recently become interested in teaching my cat, Wolverine Lightning Bolt, tricks. Right now, the only trick she knows is tunnel. (To run through the tunnel) Does anyone know of some basic tricks that will be easy for a cat?

I'm new to teaching cats tricks. I've spent 2 days charging up the clicker. I don't think she knows what it means yet...

Touch or Targeting something should be easy to start her trick training off with.

Well.... When ever I hold my hand out, she will rub her face against my hand. It's actually super cute!

Hello Dlilly,

I teached some things for my two cats like Jump, Túnel, weave poles (a bit slower than with dogs), Jump trought a circle, ask(raise up the two front legs,it's a very easy trick), close a light door,sit, paw,jump my leg..., and I found out, that for me and for they, target was the best way. I used a stick with something exciting on the tip and first reward them for follow it, the first trick I teached was jump, and a little time after they could do agility.

Here is my little cat training video where I trained my cat Inca to give a paw. I have broken it down into simple steps as I use it in my puppy training class.

I taught it to Inca using Shaping.
