Puppy Sitting

I'm puppy sitting today and I'm not aloud to feed him anything but I want to teach some simple tricks. ( I know he knows paw and sit) Is rewarding him with toys and praise good enough if i cant give him treats

Sure you can use praise, toys, games ... anything exciting will reinforce the dog!

You could teach retrieve as a game or tug! Circles, weaves, backing would be easy to teach with a toy. Use the toy as the lure for anytrick involving movement. For backing start in a hallway and walk towards the dog. Reward when the dog takes one step back, two steps back etc. You could also teach crawl by luring the puppy under your leg or a chair.
