so hubbie invited his family over - they live nearly 3hrs away.
somehow, the conversation never included the line "oh, by the way, we have a gert big hairy black dog".
they showed up and they refused to come in the house. didn't matter what i said or did, they refused to come in. they wanted to know where a hotel was (both of them are booked solid) or they were going back home. every time dandy so much as blinked, they'd be all flinching and eeking and totally dramatic.
in the end, the only thing i could do was lock dandy in my bedroom and take him out for five or six short walks (because naturally, as a "good hindu wife", i'm supposed to cater to these ppl).
there were so many of them, they took up all the beds plus a couple blow-ups. ganesh said "well, i guess you can sleep in my room tonight". and i looked at him and said "actually, i'm going to sleep in my room with dandy."
and do you know what they had the unmitigated gall to say as they were leaving? "well, you didn't have to leave him locked up - you could've let him out, you know".
after we got back from escorting them halfway back home, dandy clung to my side like wet rubber (literally: he plastered himself up against me every chance he could) and hubbie goes "what's *wrong* with him??" and i said "what the hell do you think? he doesn't understand why he's been punished for two days!" and he says "but they SAID you could let him out!"
"yes! AFTER they were already leaving!"
AAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
honestly, i need my own place.
