Hey I have a rat terrier dog who is 4 years old and her name is Prissy and she is housetrained. But last night I carried her outside to pee and she did but only 10 minutes after we got back in she peed on the floor which is unusual, she never does that. And today she will not get down and play she has only wanted to lay in the bed and she will cry and whine and look at me like she trying to tell me something, and she will not eat anything, I try to hand feed her and she just turns her head. Any suggestions could this be a urinary tract infection. I am going to call the vet tomorrow if she isnt better.

Dogs absolutely can get UTIs. Sounds like vet time to me. Do take her in first thing, unless of course she's all better in the morning -- only thinking, were/are there firecrackers going off in your neighborhood for New Years like there were/are in mine? They've been shooting them off randomly in my neighborhood last night and still into today - enough already!! Just wondering if something could have scared her really badly. But - since she doesn't currently sound like the healthiest of dogs, I'd get her seen right away. Keep offering food, and water, or maybe some diluted chicken broth, just to keep her hydrated - if she'll drink some. If she's whining, it may be painful. I'd plan on taking her in to the vet as soon as they open in the morning. Please keep us updated.

Oh no...:(

I would seriously consider taking Prissy to a specialist. It's not normal for a dog to have so many health problems. Did you find a food for her that she likes yet?

I agree Dogster, Prissy seems to have too many health problems, time for a specialist!

Have you managed to find a food she will eat?

Thanks for the information, No I havent found a food she will eat. she just turns her head away, I have even tried to hand feed her and even hold the bowl for her and she turns her head away from the bowl. All she wants to do is lay in the bed or for me to hold her. Unfortunately her vet isnt in today, there is a vet in the office but I really dont like her and Prissy is very scared of her so her vet that she sees is going to be back in in the morning so she going then. This vet Prissy sees now is the only vet that she isnt scared of. I carried her to a vet that had opened up near my house about 4 months ago when all her problems started and he kept her in the hospital for 2 days and when I got her back she was like a zombie and when I called the vet and asked him what was wrong, he said oh I had to give her a pile of medicine to calm her down. And the vet she sees now when he got the results of everything that vet did, he told me he gave her too much medicine for her size. So that is why I really hate to change vets because Prissy really likes this vet. I will talk to him tomorrow about her seeing a specialist. I thank yall for all yalls help.

What kind of foods have you tried? Dry? Canned?

Dogs seem to like canned food more than dry. If you haven't tried canned food yet, that's my next recommendation.(I'm not sure if I have already asked this question before on another thread, excuse me if I did.) You can also add cooked chicken or yogurt to her food to help her eat it.

Thanks for the information, I went and got some can of the nutro and wellness and she will not eat it , but The store only had it in lamb and rice. They suppose to be getting in some chicken, so I am going to try that. I am getting ready to head out to the dr. with her in a few minutes, hoping I can get some answers on why she will not eat and if she has a urinary tract infection. She cried and whined off and on all night, it has been a long night. But she is worth it. Have you heard anything about giving cottage cheese to a dog and it will help there stomach.

I carried Prissy to the vet and she doesnt have a UTI, vet thinks why she peed on floor in the house was because I did hear someone shooting a gun and she got scared, But she has this place on her stomach where her incision is where she was spayed, it looks like a big blister and he keeps getting bigger and he had to cut it and drain it, this is the 2nd time he has had to do it, he said if it comes back again he going to have to go in and do surgery. He also said he thinks she has a pancreatic insufficiency and he says inflammatory bowel disease, I am waiting to here from the results. He gave her a antibiotic shot and a B12 shot, he said it will help her appetite and if she does have the pancreatic insufficiency it will help that, and he told me to give her some greek yogurt. I sure hope she gets better, I hate seeing her like this. And he gave her shot for pain, she been crying like she is hurting. She sleeping at the moment.

Get Well Soon Prissy:) So glad she liked the Greek Yoghurt, that means she's getting some nourishment. The B12 will definitely stimulate her appetite. I sure hope that you and your vet can find out what's wrong and get Prissy on the road to being a happy, well little lady again.
