So, yesterday a new pup came into our lives. She's a Bichon Frise, and her name is Molly. Here is where i'm gonna post both dog's progress wih a new person in the house.

day 2: well, molly and buddy are adjusting well, but you can tell buddy thinks she's just here for the night. I think they will make good Siblings. After karate I'm gonna take them for a walk. Molly did good last night, as far as I know. She mostly slept under my moms bed, which is ok, but she kept bumpingher head :(
She piddled a little bit in the house, but she won't go number 2. grreeat...
Even though Molly is 9 years old, she acts like a puppy. her and buddy ran into the house at full speed.
Molly doesn't like grass, it's to prickly on her pads. We were trying to let them out but she just stood at the back door, staring at us like, "nuh-uh, crazies"

I can tell already, i am going to love this thread, so so glad you are going to keep us updated on your new baby there!
Molly sounds like a wonderful dog!
How wonderful the dogs like each other, i bet, both dogs will add so much joy to each other's lives!

My dog hated grass, too, he'd never been on any, but, overtime, he got used to it. Just took him some time, and we played with him a lot on the grass, so he began to associate "grass = FUN!"

can't wait for more updates!!

Day 2 Con't: So, it's 6:24 pm and Molly is chillin' on my moms lap. Buddy is under the table chewin his bone, being Buddy.
As I watch both dogs, I see what different personalities have evolved from both of them. I've never really noticed Buddy because I've never had another dog in the house to compare him to. Molly is so energetic with a soft side and Buddy is mellow with a wild side.
Lets see what the days to come look like.

What a cute observation to make, about how different dogs DO indeed, have different personalities!
I know what you mean, i do. The more i see other dogs, the more i even just read about other dogs' personalities, the more i kind of like and admire my own quirky dog's personality!

So happy your mom finally finally has her lap dog!! :ROFLMAO: so happy it is working out so well for both dogs! I bet they really enjoy each other's company!

Where do the dogs sleep now? Do they sleep together?

tigerlily: Buddy sleeps on his bed in my moms room and Molly usually rotates from on my moms bed to under her bed. At 6 am when my mom lets the dogs out is when Buddy goes to his downstairs bed and Molly goes to Buddy's bed in my moms room. Confusing, I know. ;)

Day 3: Right now, Molly is... puking. Well, gagging I should say. Nothing weird is coming up, just water. Strange, we don't know why. Is it these new treats we are giving her? She's only had one...

awwww. :( well, maybe her dog food is new to her?

if she pukes again, you may have to stop all fluids and food for a few hours,
and then, if no puking,
then put her on small amounts of fluids only,
freeze some pedialyte in shallow plastic container in your freezer and offer her chips of that,
and then, after a few hours of small fluids being held down just fine, then more fluids.
Maybe some rice, plain boiled rice...

and then, after 12 to 24 hours of fluids only,
slowly give her some rice,
then next meal, rice with boiled chicken strips,
and then, next meal, add in some kibbles to the rice/chicken bits,
and slowly advance back along.
then if she pukes again, i'd either try a different dog food,
or,
take her to vet.
Is probably just new foods? do you know what Molly was being fed before you adopted her?

What treats are they? Dogs do gag but if it continues you should think about a vet check... Had she just being having a mad run around after drinking water? It can be over excitement. As I said though if it happens more think about a vet check.

She's ok now, probably just excitement. The treats are Cesars Softies filet mingion.

We actually do not know what brand the food is, but they are really small pellets. We did just start putting her on Buddy's food (Purina Dog Chow) but that was after the puking episode. We crush the food up, because her and her measly 13 teeth can't chew those big pellets :)

OH, so glad she is better!! whew!!
Chloe, you know, that Purina is one pricey dog food! It is between $2.00 a pound, and $3.50 a pound (depending on which flavor you feed)
and you can find a better, healthier dog food for a lot less than $3.50 a pound.
Here is review of Purina---it's a one-star dog food:sick:
http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/purina-dog-chow/

all the sites give a thumbs down to Purina, but, your VET will probably say it is "great" dog food, but, turns out, many vets either don't know, or don't care about dog nutrition...

Here is nice list, it also indicates PRICE of dog food:
http://www.petfoodratings.net/dogtable.html

some other brands to consider, that cost less but are healthier dog foods, include:
Costco's Kirkland---about .60 cents per pound
http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/kirkland-signature-dog-food/
Chicken Soup for Dog Lover Soul---about 1.20 per pound

Canidae ALS----1.14 per pound

Premium Edge--1.09 per pound

Nutrisource---1.18 per pound
http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/nutrisource-dog-food-dry/

Or Fromm---
at .94 cents a pound flavor:
http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/fromm-dog-food-family-classics/
or their 1.24 cents a pound flavor:
http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/fromm-dog-food-four-star-nutritionals-dry/

(prices listed might not be accurate)

I'm just saying, since you ARE paying top dollar for dog food anyway, you have a lot of more healthy choices to choose from in THAT price range!!;) If you DO decide to upgrade the dog food, do so slowly, only swapping out a few kibbles per day, over a week or two. You can donate leftover Purina to the local dog pound, they'd be thrilled to get it.

EDIT--SORRY!!!!!! I JUST CHECKED, and Purina "Dog Chow" flavor is less, at about a dollar a pound, so that is great you are NOT paying top dollar,:D like some of the Purina dog flavors charge:rolleyes: , so that is good! GOOD FOR YOU, to not be paying top dollar for Purina, good.
Still, if you can find a Costco store, their Kirklands, it is both cheaper and healthier,
and so is Fromm's 'family classic' flavor.

Here is one way to find Fromm retailers in your area, IF you are interested:
http://frommfamily.com/retailers/usa

So long as you are not paying top dollar for Purina !! cuz many purina flavors are expensive (yet not much better than their "dog chow" flavor)
good luck!
