I'd like to train Valentine to balance a treat on her nose.
At first I couldn't get her to let me touch a treat to her nose without her squirming so that she could constantly have a good look at what it was I that I was putting on her nose.
So I've been drawing her attention away with one treat, while I balance a small milkbone on her nose with the other.
Now she's content to let me put a milkbone on her nose but I can't seem to get her attention on the other treat if I hold it any farther than right against her mouth (so she can lick it). This is what I'm trying to do to get her to level her head. If I have the treat against her mouth, she tilts it.
I'm wondering what the next step would be. For those of you that have trained your dogs to do this trick, how did you do it? What are the steps? Thanks!
