You Have Not Entered This Contest Contest is Closed

Objective:
Using positive training techniques only, teach your dog the proper bang position by luring him and then start to increase the time and distractions. The objective is to have your dog go into that position by using your voice only.

Example Demonstration:
One example of how this might be taught can be viewed here.

Important Information
As with all of the monthly challenges, it is important that you do not try to push your dog any further than it is willing or physically able to go. Remember, the challenges are just for fun, and this should be reflected in your approach to training.

At least we have "touch" down pat, which I'm using to reposition her back into the camera's view. And you'll notice that her focus is quite good. We've worked really hard at that. But getting her to sit or lie still will need a great deal more practice, and is almost impossible at this point. She should get a little calmer as she grows older.... in about 15 years I reckon
Hey Bipa! Nice video! It looks like you just have to reinforce him when he is laying down. You can probably lure him in the proper position and always feed him when his side is on the ground.

Think of it like a down stay. You reinforce your dog only when he is down, same thing applies here.

Hope this helps a little.

Here's Milo doing his thing. Forgive the inane theatrical commentary! Also realised I'd given him two releases OK and click!

I see Milo's ear does the same as Ellie's does. Folds over really easily and stays there. The times I have to fold Ellie's ears back for her...

Good video!

Default Completed challenge

So when we have our challenge completed, and we make our video, do we just post it to the forum as our entry? Or do we have to send them to someone in particular?

Thanks,
Sally

You just have to send it on youtube, google or anywhere you'd like and then to post a link on this thread.

We like seeing you guys train your dog!!!!

Clover is entering this one! We are probably going to use a different cue, though... Probably "play dead", though as a bridging cue at the moment we are using "pink belly" as she already has a vague idea on what this means... Will get her SPASTIC video soon. She's a git so she is only dead for a fraction of a second.

Default February Challenge Submission - Bang

I am training all three dogs to do it but Loki is the best so far. So here he is doing his rendition of a death scene lol.

We are learning clicker training along with cinematography so I apologize for the lack in quality.

Well in all honesty, I have worked with Loki on this more than the other two dogs. So it's not their fault.

Thanks.

They are so smart aren't they? Play dead means you are going to mess with my boo boo foot lol I am sure with work he will get over that thought.

Good luck,
Sally

Loki is looking good! Far better than Clover is going, hahaha. The 'dead' positions she gets in look like unusual cases of rigor mortis. I'm glad to see Loki has a stray waving leg, too.

Yes sometimes Loki's leg has a mind of it's own. I love those lil otter heads...border terriers. They are adorable, and that Clover is a cutie.

Speaking of odd positions my other dog, Scrammy does those same positions when he bangs. He rolls onto his back with his feet in the air but I think its cute so I am encouraging it.
