| 1. This thread: move around me, has some ideas that might help the backwards weaving. For backwards weaving, a prerequesite is hind end awareness. So do a lot of pivoting on a block and backing up first. The easiest way to do it is through teaching backward circles first. since then it is really easy to just open your legs in the middle of the circle, and then start asking for different directions of the circle. Another way to teach it is once the dog knows how to pivot into heel position, you can ask them to pivot again once they are at your side and this in theory would have the dog go through your legs. 2. What do you mean by flip? 3. Again, another prereq for moonwalk is the dog knowing the back up command. But really just start one foot at a time. ask for a down, and then you some dogs generalize really easy if you just alternate down, back, down, back. With my dogs I wanted the moonwalk from a bow, so once my dog is bowing, I put a treat right next to his chest so he has to move 1/2inch back to get it. I then click that backing up in a bow and throw another treat right at his chest. For all the tricks, I recomend going to the new trickster section and doing a searc so you can see. Here is Vito's backward 8's and Lance's backward 8's And here is Vito's moonwalk and if you watch to the end you can see that once Vito go the concept of backing up in a bow, I started to push the treat into him more before clicking. |

| If you mean teaching flip with a frisbee, I can't really help you on that, as I don't do frisbee with my dog. If you mean a sipmle flip, here's how I taught it to Pami: Bsasically, I combined 2 tricks-- jump up (not in my arms, just jump), and turn away from me. Teaching how to jump up: there are quite a few ways to teach it, sorry, but I honestly don't remember how I taught it... ![]() You can teach turning away with simple luring. Then, for the flip: Ask your dog to turn away from you, then ask for a jump. At first, he will probably don't understand, so he will turn back to you. You can reward that at first, but as this is not what you want, keep trying. My luck was, that when Pami did the jumping, she immediately turned back to me, as she wanted the reward. After enough practice, and good timing with the clicker, you will get that flip. This was a little chaotic, I know, but I hope it helped a little. ![]() Have fun training! ![]() |
