Qwill, no matter how smart he appears to be, no matter how many lure-baised tricks he knows, and despite being my most trained dog has refused thus far to learn to shape a behavior.

Past sessions would go like this: 1 would sit on the floor, show him a toy, and wait.

Qwill: *STARE AT MOM*
Me: try again Q, toy *points*
Qwill: you have treats in your hand, who cares about a toy, I'm not even going to look at it. *STARE AT MOM*

Wow how time does fly! I've moved from hot San Antonio back to my hometown in Ohio. My last blog post was a mere three days after I brought home my new pup, and now Trophy in just a few weeks shy of his first birthday (May 10th). Pretty unbelievable. I had lost track of this site in the craziness that is picking up your entire life and moving 1300 miles.

But I am back, back to training regularly, and hopefully back to posting regularly! I didn't realize how much i missed this place!...

Trophy is officially the best puppy ever. He's already 95% crate trained (he only whines a little when i put him in the crate, vs. day 1 where he screamed - all night), and he's already 95% potty trained (no accidents in the house yesterday, and none so far today)!

I've only had him 3 full days. The big dogs are slowly getting used to having a tiny baby brother. Qwill is quite smitten with his MiniQ now, and he likes to play with him. Qwill would love to teach him to play chase,...

So I'm at work today when a lady brings in 7 puppies who wrote the book on cute. The first one i picked up to weight just happens to look like a smoothie version of Mr. Q himself. I was totally smitten. I called court up and asked if i could have a puppy... and she said YES!

Tuesday was Qwill's second advanced class. There are 5 dogs in the class, and the instructors dog makes 6, so we split into teams to play a game of tic-tac-toe and practice stays at the same time. I thought it was going to be super lame, but it was actually very amusing and a lot of fun!

Each team was given a position, either sit or down, then we made a tic-tac-toe board on the floor using long lines. Then each turn the teams would put one dog in a stay in their assigned positions...
