Seriously Disturbing Dream

it's getting so i'm afraid to sleep! warning - it's graphic. i'm pretty good with the dream interpretation but i can't make head nor tail of this one. it doesn't make any sense.

i was shopping - not here in my small town but in a big place like ocean's or superstore. lots of chrome and glass and such. suddenly i felt a sharp nudge on the back of my leg and it was dandy. i looked around guiltily and said "what are you doing here!?" and went to get him out before someone saw but then i realized he was in BAD shape: his fur was dusty and matted and dry and crispy, his ribs protruded, he was limping on his rear left leg, and he looked awful. i said "omg, dandy! what happened to you!" i bent down to hug him around the neck but he wasn't there - he'd split into two beings: a giant, sumo-type wrestler wearing a diaper and a ceramic caillou-type mask who was laying on his back with his knees pulled up, rocking from head to butt (not side to side) and moaning incoherently, and a really hot asian-looking guy who didn't look physically real - he looked like he'd been extracted from a Final Fantasy video game and he was just laying there, totally dead.

i jumped back and said WTFgF!?? closed my eyes, opened them again, and they were gone - so was the store: i was standing in front of the open door to my house. i saw ganesh inside at the top of the stairs (he was just a shadowy shape) and said "where the f is my dog!? where's dandy!???" all panicked and ganesh looked at me like i was losing it and said "uh... " and i heard saari chime in with "he's right here, mom, where did you think?" but didn't see her at all.

so i called dandy and he came out of the house but again, he didn't look like him - he looked like a gigantic tricolour australian shepherd and he was limping badly, favouring his rear left leg. i said what happened to you?? and picked up his foot and it was HUGE - massively swollen (i mean it was as long as my forearm!) with a solid yellow crust of yuck with hair all matted through it. there were buckshot wounds all over his foot, his leg, and his belly, all bleeding freely, and the entire side of his foot had a hole blasted right through it between the first two metatarsals (i looked it up).
and that's when i woke up.

i mean...... WTFgF was that all about!???

that's the one good thing about all this but i've never had bad dreams with dandy in them before.

    i blame the cats.

Wow that's weird!!:confused: How does our subconscious come up with stuff like that??
Maybe you are somehow afraid to neglect dandy? Or that he will get hurt?
    I don't know, I'm just guessing here?;)

I've had weird dreams but none have come true. I wouldn't worry.

I think Anneke has made a good suggestion. Maybe you feel as if somehow you've neglected Dandy. Or you're afraid, subconsciously, he may run off and get lost. But don't panic, most dreams are just our subconscious mind getting very mixed up. You may have had a stressful time of late and it's showing up with Dandy because you love him so much.

Just talking about it here should ease your mind, hopefully it will not return. It's the recurring dreams which need to be examined more closely.

ugh - i had forgotten all about that dream - and here's the interesting thing:

you know how i said i couldn't see ganesh but i could see his silhouette?

on sunday, he wasn't feeling well - he came home early from work.

on monday, he was irritable and out of sorts all day. at midnight, i woke up to loud moaning and groaning. thought at first he was watching some really good porn or something but then heard "BLLLLEEAAAAGHK!" and went "ew..."

he was vomiting so violently, i thought seriously he was going to vomit out his own feet from beneath him. afterward, he sat on the bed absently rubbing the front of his right shoulder. i asked him what up with that, he said he must've pulled something when he was being sick.

it didn't look right. i said "when you pull a muscle, you massage it like this [and i showed him - you know, squeezing my shoulder like i'd pulled a muscle, you know how you do]; you don't go like this [flat fingers, starting midpoint of the right pectoral and pushing across to to the shoulder and down the arm to the elbow]. why are you doing down to the elbow? is the pain moving?"

well, the upshot was, he told me to shut up, asked if i'd gotten my medical degree from the university of google and told me to get out of his room, he's going to bed.

the next morning, he was in an ambulance being rushed to the local emergency department - they thought it was a gallbladder attack but it turned out to be a massive heart attack in progress and they couldn't stop it. so he was fired off to peterborough hospital, over an hour away, where they wheeled him straight from the ambulance into the operating room.

he was in intensive care for a few days but he should be coming home saturday or sunday - he thinks: i know ppl who've been in that hospital and they generally don't discharge over the wkend, esp since he hasn't been seen by the dietitian and that has to be done the day before he's released (and dietitians don't come around on the wkends).

Wow! How awful! And yet to be coming home so soon after being in intensive care, that's pretty amazing.

Is Ganesh your son? How old is he? Is there any history of heart trouble?

That's awful, but does explain the dream. Sincerely hope Ganesh is home on the weekend and feeling much better, but from what you say, doesn't sound likely.

Brody's Mom, the hospitals here also discharge patients very quickly, even after intensive care, I often think our dogs and animals are better treated and cared for when it comes to hospitals.
