So, I have not gotten the puppy yet, probably wont until the end of May but I need name ideas! Im not sure if I am getting a male or female. I am wanted a dog that has at least some australian shepherd or collie in it. The male name I have in mind is : Leroy

Do you guys have any cute female dog name ideas?

I want a name that is unique.(Like maybe a name that has a special meaning) I do not really like "human" names such as lilly or sadie.

Thanks for the hellp!

Welcome to DTA!!!!:D It's great that you've decided to get a puppy!!! Have you considered using a month of the year as a female puppy name, such as April or June? I have some other suggestions:
  • Comet...From the latin. Means long hair.
  • Cyclone...Wwwoow. Get out of her way!
  • Juno...From Roman mythology. Goddess and protector of women.
  • Sirius...The Dog Star. And the brightest in the sky.
  • Spell...Are you under it?
  • Mosaic...Top dog name if your pup's a mixture.
  • Chaka...Lion hunter.
  • Celeste...Abandoned? Past unknown?
  • Echo...A resounding relationship awaits you.
I got these names from http://www.top-dogs-names.com/unique-dog-names.html You can try to find some more names online. By the way, have you considered a rescue??? Then you could ACTUALLY save a homeless or abandoned dog. Have you considered agility or tricks as a way to bond yourself with your new puppy??? A lot of us here (DTA) are into practising tricks or agility. I also encourage you to use positive reinforcement training with your puppy. I think it's the best way to go!!!!:)

ooh, how fun!!!
If you google "dog names" hundreds of sites pop up, with ways to name your dog. Such sites often have ways to divide up the catogories of dog names, like "Mythology dog names" and "Dog names based on color" and so on.
http://www.dog-names.us/

http://www.fundognames.com/

http://www.momswhothink.com/dogs-names/dogs-names.html

those are just first 3 sites that popped up, there are 8,000,000 more sites, as well!!

Sometimes, it's easier to name a dog when you SEE the dog, or see how she acts. sometimes a person knows the dog's name before they even meet the dog. It's fun to name a dog though.

btw, what country do you live in? (lol, for some reason, no one much fills in what country they are in)
anyway,
Adopting a dog or puppy might be something you may want to consider,
here is a site that does work in some countries.
http://www.petfinder.com/index.html
You can sort out the Autralian shepherds only, if you do have your heart set on an Aussie. (Aussies are reeeally active dogs, btw!) I love Aussies, but i'd miss the wagging tail myself. I love tail waggers.

Other countries also often have searchable websites to look over the 10000s and 1000s of homeless dogs and puppies, too.

GOOD LUCK, and happy dog-hunting!!! Hope you find both a dog you really love,
and a name you love as well!

I don't miss the wagging tails with my aussies:D:LOL:

Here is my list of names, I wrote down the names during my search for a name for my female pup, which I got 2 years ago;)
Dazzle
Jax
Shayla
Zipper
Blaise
Rayne
Rowan
Kida
Kyan
Kiara
Jinx(this one is taken:D That's how I named my pup)

I was looking to get a female, so I didn't really look for boy names, but I like
Buzzer and Cross
My male dogs name is Cooper. The other name we had lined up for him was Bear, but it didn't fit him;)

I love searching for names. And found it soooo hard to choose the right one.

The reason I choose Jinx was, I wanted something with a magical theme in it. As my nickname is Madam Mim(yes the clumsy witch from disney's Donald Duck) Don't ask me why this is, but it has something to do with a halloween costume:LOL: I wanted Magic, but over here Magic is a fairly popular name for aussies, so I scratched that.
And because my search for the right breeder had been terrible, was put on several waiting lists and missed out every time, I figured my search was Jinxed:ROFLMAO:
